Ma la domanda che dovremmo porci forse è: "Ciò che noi proponiamo agli studenti, viene realmente appreso o solo immagazzinato nella memoria a breve termine? Se la risposta è la seconda, se le "vacanze di Natale" sembrano aver fatto tabula rasa nella mente dei nostri studenti, allora il problema è più nostro che loro. Probabilmente abbiamo "somministrato" loro informazioni che non sono state adeguatamente rielaborate. A questo punto ci dobbiamo fermare un attimo a riflettere sul fatto che forse è meglio che i notri studenti sappiano meno nozioni, ma le facciano proprie. A questo proposito è dedicata la mia Unità di Apprendimento e l'elemento multimediale sembra dare un valido contributo per ottenere lo scopo prefissato. In realtà in queste tre settimane gli studenti hanno fatto moltissimo: le tecnologie informatiche hanno stimolato l'esercizio di funzioni (uso power point, scrittuta su word, invio e-mails), hanno fatto collaborare i ragazzi fra loro ( la contrapposizione di posizioni porta alla argomentazione della propria tesi e giustificazione del proprio punto di vista), li hanno resi cittadini migliori (si sono suddivisi il carico di lavoro, hanno svolto diligentemente il loro ruolo, si sono ripartiti il carico emotivo connesso alla novità del compito). Inoltre, dal punto di vista contenutistico, hanno acquisito senza sforzo informazioni sulla città di Londra, che da questo momento risulta un luogo interessante e degno della loro attenzione e chissà, forse, di una loro futura visita!&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;span style="color:#663366;"&gt;Appare chiaro che la situazione multimediale richiede all'insegnante, come sosteneva G. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gregory_Bateson"&gt;&lt;span style="color:#663366;"&gt;Bateson&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span style="color:#663366;"&gt;, "Una trasformazione delle modalità usuali di conduzione della lezione: al docente viene richiesta una funzione di sostegno e allo stesso tempo di problematizzazione..". Questo momento finale viene valutato dall'insegnante tenendo conto di alcuni parametri: il contenuto pertinente o meno alla traccia proposta, la capacità di sintesi del materiale scaricato via internet, l'utilizzo più o meno efficace del programma power point, la capacità di coordinare e dividere equamente il lavoro fra i vari membri del gruppo e l'efficacia nell'esposizione. D'altro canto, l'insegnante nei momenti in cui ha monitorato il group work ha preso appunti sulla loro capacità di problem- solving, sullo sviluppo delle loro abilità sociali (dare e prendere la parola, ascoltare il punto di vista degli altri, assumersi il ruolo di reasercher, recorder, summerizer e checker) e loro capacità di dare e ricevere aiuto. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;span style="color:#663366;"&gt;Nel corso di queste tre settimane, le attività svolte nell'ambito delle quattro abilità integrate, in unione con l'utilizzo di strumenti multimediali, ha avuto un impatto positivo sulla performance degli alunni: tutti gli studenti hanno consolidato le loro conoscenze comunicative pregresse (fluency) e ciò ha avuto un impatto positivo anche sulla correttezza grammaticale (accuracy). Ognuno prende appunti su ciò che dice l'altro. Poi fanno un breve resoconto scritto di ciò che ha fatto il compagno. Pare che i nostri studenti non partano da casa il mattino con l'intento di apprendere il più possibile e di carpire all'insegnante i segreti della disciplina; forse non era così neppure ai miei tempi, ma, magari c'era qualcuno che come me tornava a casa da scuola entusiasta, &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0"&gt;perché&lt;/span&gt; così poteva interrogare i genitori e dimostrare che in qualche ambito ne sapeva più di loro. Risulta evidente che i tempi sono cambiati e lo è anche la motivazione ad apprendere. Nell'ambito dell'insegnamento delle lingue straniere, &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1"&gt;Jane&lt;/span&gt; &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2"&gt;Willis&lt;/span&gt; nel suo libro "A &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3"&gt;Framework&lt;/span&gt; &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4"&gt;for&lt;/span&gt; &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5"&gt;Tasked&lt;/span&gt; &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6"&gt;Based&lt;/span&gt; &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_7"&gt;Learning&lt;/span&gt;" sostiene che l'apprendimento ha successo se si soddisfano tre condizioni: gli studenti sono esposti alla lingua obiettivo, la utilizzano e sono motivati a farlo. Partendo dal presupposto che le prime due condizioni vengano soddisfatte, la domanda che sorge spontanea è: come motivarli? Le risposte possono essere molteplici, in quanto ogni insegnante ha delle proprie peculiarità e doti che lo portano ad identificare le reali necessità dei suoi studenti, ma un modo sicuramente infallibile consiste nell'utilizzare in classe ed a casa strumenti propri del loro tempo a loro molto cari: il computer, il lettore &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_8"&gt;dvd&lt;/span&gt;, &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_9"&gt;mp&lt;/span&gt;3, in poche parole tutto ciò che è multimediale.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;span style="color:#663366;"&gt;Qualcuno potrebbe &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_10"&gt;obiettare&lt;/span&gt; sostenendo che l'uso degli strumenti multimediali stimola l'esercizio di funzioni più che l'apprendimento di contenuti. Questo è sicuramente vero, ma le tecnologie stimolano un processo di riflessione sia nel docente che nel discente: l'insegnante si rende conto che non è più al centro nel rapporto educativo insegnante-discente, diventa sempre più una sorta di guida, monitor mentre lo studente acquisisce autonomia, collabora con gli altri e chiunque ha modo di apprendere visto che la multimedialità favorisce stili cognitivi diversi. Tutto ciò è sorprendente, visto che si era partiti semplicemente dalla necessità di accentuare la motivazione negli studenti!
